Florida State looks to get back on track vs. USF in Orange Bowl Classic
One week after suffering back-to-back second-half collapses, the Florida State men’s basketball team will return to action today in search of a complete performance.
Playing in the Orange Bowl Classic for the 13th time, FSU (4-3) will take on a USF squad (2-4) that has lost three straight games — against UMass, Hofstra and Maine. The Bulls’ only victories have come against South Carolina State and Northern Iowa.
Florida State, meanwhile, has earned wins against then-No. 18 Colorado, UNLV, Central Michigan and Kennesaw State.
The Seminoles are favored by 7.5 points for the neutral-site game, which will be played at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise.
It will be Florida State’s first action since the Seminoles fell at North Carolina last Saturday despite building a 14-point lead early in the second half. And that came just a few days after FSU blew a late 17-point lead at home against Georgia.
Through seven games, Florida State is averaging 78.9 points per game and holding opponents to 73.6. The Seminoles’ top offensive options have been veteran shooting guards Darin Green Jr. (14.1 points) and Jamir Watkins (13.6), and post players Cameron Corhen (9.5) and De’Ante Green (8.3).
