July is beginning to look like a very good month for Mike Norvell and Florida State football recruiting.

The Seminoles started off Saturday — the first day of the month — ranked 19th in the Class of 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, but after securing two commitments in as many hours, the Seminoles have moved up six spots to 13th.

FSU started off with four-star defensive end DD Holmes out of Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C., and then moved on to three-star cornerback Ricky Knight out of West Palm Beach

“The people at FSU when I went on my unofficial and official visit … felt like home,” Holmes said while making his announcement.

Said Knight: “I trust in what Coach Norvell is putting together. That’s where my home is.”

The best news for Florida State fans is that the Seminoles likely are not close to finished yet.

Several FSU targets are expected to announce their commitments this week.

Four-star wide receiver James Madison II and four-star wide receiver Elijah Moore are scheduled to announce their commitments on Independence Day. Both players recently took official visits to FSU.

In addition, prospects like five-star offensive lineman Jonathan Daniels and three-star offensive lineman Tye Hylton could announce any day now. They also had high praise for the Seminoles when they took their official visits last weekend.

Five-star cornerback Charles Lester III has also scheduled his commitment for the end of the month.

If Florida State continues its strong push, the Seminoles could be back in the top 10 of the national recruiting rankings very soon.

Norvell actually took to social media on Friday to hint that FSU could be poised to make such a run.

“Have a feeling we might see some fireworks in July,” Norvell posted on Twitter.
