Florida State football officially announces there will be no Spring Showcase in 2025
For most Florida State fans, the first time they’ll get to see the new-look Seminoles will be in late August. Inside Doak Campbell Stadium. Against Alabama.
It was expected to be in April, when the Seminoles typically hold their annual version of the spring game to wrap up spring practice, but that has been cancelled due to ongoing stadium renovations.
During Tuesday evening’s virtual booster event “Vision of Excellence New Year’s Presentation with head coach Mike Norvell,” the voice of the Seminoles, Jeff Culhane, confirmed that the 2025 Spring Showcase will not be taking place.
“It’s obviously unfortunate,” Norvell said. “But for us, it’s still about the work. We get 15 days and we’ve got to maximize every one of them.”

Culhane asked the head coach if there was any thought to moving the showcase to another location, but Norvell said that while it was discussed it was deemed that skipping it altogether – and just using that day as an extra spring practice – was the best option for the program.

As he mentioned multiple times during his hour-long interview with Culhane, the Seminoles are installing different schemes on each side of the ball.
“We’re limited with NCAA rules with the amount of time we get to work through the spring,” Norvell said. “With how the calendar is laid out and some of the other elements … we just thought it was in the best interest of our team to go through spring and capitalize on each of those practices.”
He said they didn’t want to miss one of the 15 days trying to get something done off campus.
“With some of the hurdles and distractions that would entail,” Norvell said. “Unfortunately, it is what it is for this spring. But the work will be going on.”
