It took until late November and a game against an out-manned FCS opponent, but the Florida State football team finally picked up its second victory of the season on Saturday afternoon.

Riding three touchdown passes from new starting quarterback Luke Kromenhoek and a dominant defensive performance, the Seminoles cruised to a 41-7 win against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in Doak Campbell Stadium.

With the win, FSU improves to 2-9 with one game remaining, while Charleston Southern ends its season at 1-11.

After a scoreless first quarter, Florida State took a 3-0 lead on a 25-yard field goal by Ryan Fitzgerald early in the second. Then the Seminoles tacked on two more touchdowns late in the second quarter.

The first one was set up by a big play from the Florida State special teams. After Alex Mastromanno booted a 52-yard punt down to the Charleston Southern 11-yard line, FSU freshman walk-on Willy Suarez forced a fumble, and the loose ball was recovered by linebacker Shawn Murphy.

The Seminoles punched it in for a touchdown with a 4-yard pass from Kromenhoek to tight end Amaree Williams. Then running back Caziah Holmes made it 17-0 with a 3-yard touchdown run right before halftime.

Florida State extended its lead to 24-0 on the first play of the second half when Kromenoek connected with senior receiver Ja’Khi Douglas on a 71-yard pass down the right sideline. And the Seminoles tacked on another TD on a 10-yard strike from Kromenhoek to sophomore wideout Hykeem Williams.
