GAME DAY UPDATES: Florida State names starting QB, injury news, pregame show

Florida State has decided on a starting quarterback for tonight’s game against Cal (7 p.m. ET, ESPN 2). Per ESPN reporter Pete Thamel in a segment of College GameDay, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell has tabbed quarterback DJ Uiagalelei as the Seminoles’ starting signal caller.

FSU confirmed to media outlets that starting right tackle Jeremiah Byers will miss tonight’s game as he continues to recover from an injury. News and notes on other Seminoles, including starting left tackle Darius Washington and safety Shyheim Brown were reported on by Thamel Saturday morning:
