Florida State ranked No. 8 in preseason AP Top 25; Opening opponent LSU checks in at No. 5
The Florida State football team will open the 2023 season ranked No. 8 in both major college football polls.
The Seminoles were picked No. 8 last week in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, and they also are No. 8 in the AP Top 25, which was released Monday.

Florida State is the highest-ranked ACC team in the poll – Clemson, which FSU plays in late September, is ranked No. 9. That was the Tigers’ exact spot in the Coaches’ Poll.
LSU, which Florida State plays to start the season, is ranked No. 5 in both polls.
Two-time defending national champion Georgia starts the season ranked No. 1, Michigan is No. 2, Ohio State No. 3, Alabama No. 4, USC No. 6 and Penn State No. 7. Washington checks in at No. 10. The only other ACC team ranked in the Top 25 is North Carolina, which comes in at No 21.
