The Florida State football team’s crowded running back room just got a little thinner.
Treshaun Ward, who entered this season as the Seminoles’ starting running back but ended up being the No. 2 runner behind Trey Benson, entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, according to On3 Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Despite missing three games due to injury in 2022, Ward finished second on the team with 628 yards and seven touchdowns. Last season, the former walk-on finished second on the team 515 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Benson, who transferred in from Oregon, led the Seminoles with 990 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
Before Ward made his decision, the Seminoles appeared set to have six scholarship running backs on the roster in 2023. Now, they will have five: Benson, Lawrance Toafili, Rodney Hill, Penn State transfer Cazaiah Holmes and freshman Samuel Singleton. FSU also has a talented walk-on in CJ Campbell.
