Shortly after leading Florida State to victory in its golf first tournament of the spring — posting a score of -10 at the Watersound Invitational — Luke Clanton announced Thursday he has signed an endorsement deal with Nike Golf.

Even in a world where college athletes sign all sorts of NIL endorsement deals, not many get an apparel contract as significant as one with Nike.

“Every step, every rep led me to this moment,” Clanton said in the video to announce his new deal. “But those moments don’t define me; this is just the beginning. Now it’s time to go all in, time to go further, dream bigger, push harder. It’s time to just do it.”

Clanton has been the world’s No. 1 amateur golfer for multiple months now and has been determined to lead Florida State back to the national championship match this season.

“It’s been on our mind every single day,” Clanton told the media in September. “It’s one of those things. Coming down to the final match and losing is no joke — I think everyone saw the emotion we had as a team there. When you train all year to get to that moment and don’t pull it off is hard. … It’s brutal, and it’s been on my mind every single day. Every single time we step in that gym or train during the day, whatever it is, we think about it. So I think we’re going to have a lot of fight this year and see what happens.”

Clanton has also been playing in multiple PGA Tour events. Most recently, he had to make the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open to earn his tour card, but he missed a putt on the 18th hole by mere inches.

He will get another shot to earn his card at the Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., next week, where he will be playing on a sponsor exemption.

Over the summer, the Florida State star had multiple top-10 finishes on tour, including second at the John Deere Classic and fifth at the Wyndham Championship.

This past weekend, Florida State played in its first spring tournament, the Watersound Invitational. Clanton started off slow with a +1 opening round. However after shooting a six-under 66 in round two and a five-under 67 in round three, Clanton took home the victory with a three-stroke lead at 10-under.
