Florida State sophomore Brian Courtney, who played primarily on special teams in 2022, will be working at a new position and getting a new jersey number in 2023.
On the Seminoles’ official roster page, which was updated Friday, Courtney is listed as a tight end/linebacker, and his jersey is No. 40. Previously, he wore No. 86.
Courtney starred on offense and defense in high school as a three-star prospect out of Ashburn, Va., but he came to Florida State as a tight end.
The Seminoles have five other scholarship tight ends on the roster, with several of them being older and ahead of Courtney on the depth chart.
