Florida State's Mike Norvell gives encouraging update on health of Seminoles

JACKSONVILLE — The Florida State football team held its seventh practice of the preseason on Thursday, and its first in full pads, and the Seminoles are doing well from a health standpoint, head coach Mike Norvell said.
Norvell typically does not discuss injury news unless a player is going to miss an entire season or there is some other substantial development, but he did say after Thursday’s practice at UNF that the Seminoles have not experienced any injuries that are “extensive” in nature.
He made that comment after multiple reporters from the Jacksonville area asked for updates concerning specific players.
“We haven’t had any injuries that are extensive at this point,” Norvell said.
The fourth-year Florida State coach said that some players are being held out of segments of camp as part of load management.

“Some guys, we’re limiting in reps,” Norvell said. “And on days that there are going to be heavy workloads, some guys we’re reducing. We’ve got a lot of guys on this team that have played a lot of football. So we’re going to be smart as we go through this camp and continue to develop every player that we have.”
Florida State is ranked No. 8 nationally in the preseason Coaches’ Poll and will open the 2023 season on Sept. 3 against No. 5 LSU.
