Jamir Watkins might not be making the jump to the NBA this summer after all. But it looks as if he still is planning to leave Florida State.

One week after announcing that he would enter the NBA Draft, the Seminoles’ top scorer and rebounder entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. He did so with a “do not contact” tag, which means he will reach out to any schools he wants to consider.

Watkins, who started his career at VCU, enjoyed a breakout 2023-24 season with the Seminoles, leading the team in points, rebounds and steals and ranking a close second in assists.

The 6-foot, 7-inch swingman averaged 15.6 points and 6.0 rebounds. He led FSU with 64 steals, and he ranked second on the team with 91 assists; the only player with more was point guard Jalen Warley with 92.

Watkins becomes the eighth Seminole to enter the transfer portal this offseason. The other seven were Warley, fellow guards Primo Spears and Tom House, and forwards Cam Corhen, Baba Miller, De’Ante Green and Cam’Ron Fletcher.

FSU also lost three seniors to graduation: Darin Green Jr., Jaylan Gainey and Josh Nickelberry.

That means the only two returning players appear to be junior guard Chandler Jackson and sophomore forward Taylor Bol Bowen.

Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton also has added several new players, including recent transfers Justin Thomas from UTSA and Bostyn Holt from South Dakota.
