Release from Florida State Sports Information:

Four former Florida State men’s basketball players – Darin Green Jr. (San Antonio Spurs), RaiQuan Gray (San Antonio Spurs), Malik Osborne (Phoenix Suns) and John Butler Jr. (Washington Wizards) – will participate in the NBA 2024 Summer League during the month of July.

Green Jr. and Gray begin play in Sacramento today. Green Jr., Gray, Osborne and Butler will all play in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The competition begins in Las Vegas on July 13.

Green Jr. finished his career in 2024 as one of the top 3-point field goal shooters in school history. He played two seasons at Florida State (2022-23 and 2023-24). After playing earlier at UCF, Green finished his Florida State career ranked 11th in school history with 169 career 3-point shots made, 10th with 455 career 3-point shots attempted, and 16th in school history with a career-3-point field goal shooting percentage of .371.

Gray was the 59th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Brooklyn Nets. He earned All-American Honorable Mention honors as named by the Associated Press in 2021 and was a member of three NCAA Tournament teams. Gray played as a starter on two NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 teams and helped lead Florida State to a 73-20 (.785 winning percentage) overall record during his three seasons in Tallahassee.

Gray made his NBA debut on April 19, 2023, in the Nets’ final regular-season game, scoring 16 points, with nine rebounds and seven assists. He is currently a member of the San Antonio Spurs organization.

Osborne played last season for Apollon Patras of the Greek Basketball League. In 27 games during the 2023-24 season, he averaged 10.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in 25 minutes of play.

“I’m looking forward to being back in the NBA environment,” said Osborne. “I’m excited to learn from the staff and compete against great players.”

Osborne was a team leader and a starter on Florida State’s 2020 ACC Championship team. He played in 103 career games (31 at Rice during the 2017-18 season and 72 in three seasons at Florida State) and totaled his career-high for scoring (10.0 ppg) and rebounding averages (6.9) during his senior season of 2021-22 at Florida State. Osborne played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in his career during the 2020-21 season and helped the Seminoles to the Sweet 16. He was a member of two NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 teams (2018-19 during his redshirt season and in 2020-21).

Butler played 19 games for the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2022-23 season when he averaged 2.4 points, 0.9 rebounds and 11.6 minutes played. He is currently a member of the Wizards organization.

Butler was one of only three Seminoles to play each of Florida State’s 31 games during the 2021-22 season, his only year as a Seminole. He started 24 of the Seminoles’ 31 games with starting assignments coming in 24 of the final 25 games of the year. Butler averaged 18.9 minutes played per game as one of seven Seminoles who averaged 18 or minutes of playing time per game during his only season as a Seminole. He was the first freshman in Florida State history to lead the team in 3-point field goals made (33) and 3-point field goal percentage shooting (.393).
