With their schedules lining up perfectly, the FSU baseball and softball teams traveled to Louisville together on Thursday.

One day later, both Seminole squads started their ACC series against the Cardinals with victories, albeit in much different fashion.

The FSU baseball team jumped out to an early lead and raced to a 10-2 win, while the Seminoles’ softball team recorded a 10-9 victory.

Here are the releases from FSU Sports Information for each game.

Baseball: FSU 10, Louisville 2

Five home runs and a dominant start by junior left-hander Jamie Arnold led the No. 4 Florida State baseball team to a 10-2 win at No. 19 Louisville on Friday night at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.

On a rain-filled evening that saw the series-opening game delayed two hours just before first pitch, the Seminoles (31-7, 12-4 ACC) scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back. Arnold held the Cardinals (28-13, 10-9 ACC) to just two runs on six hits in a career-long 7.2 innings. He struck out a season-best 11 and walked one to improve to 5-1 while throwing a season-high 101 pitches.

FSU extended its win streak to six and won its fourth ACC game in a row. Florida State earned its highest-ranked win of the season and improved to 8-1 in series-opening games in 2025.

Junior second baseman Drew Faurot had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored, while junior shortstop Alex Lodise also had three hits with one RBI and three runs. The infield duo each homered and paired together to turn two double plays.

Sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher also homered as part of a two-hit, two-RBI day. Freshman first baseman Myles Bailey hit a three-run inside-the-park home run in the first inning and redshirt freshman Brody DeLamielleure added an eighth-inning homer.

The Seminoles scored 10 runs on 13 hits and held the Cardinals to two runs on six hits. FSU did not commit an error and UofL had two. Each team walked just one batter in the contest.

Bailey gave Florida State an early 3-0 lead with an inside-the-park home run in the first inning. The first inside-the-parker for FSU since Cam Smith on March 2, 2024, Bailey drove in three with his ball that one-hopped the right field wall. It was his 10th home run of the season. The Seminoles went back-to-back as Faurot homered just inside the right field foul pole for his ninth long ball of the year to make it 4-0.

Arnold retired the side in order in the first on 12 pitches with two strikeouts. He allowed a solo home run in the second, but still needed just 13 pitches in the frame. A nine pitch third preceded a 10-pitch fourth that featured a 6-4-3 double play.

FSU got the run back in the fifth to make it 5-1 thanks to Lodise’s long home run to left. The solo blast went 437 feet and cleared the ballpark for the junior’s 14th homer of 2025.

A strikeout ended the bottom of the fifth with a runner on third before Fisher drove in two with a home run to left-center. Just over the outfield fence, it scored Faurot and was his sixth of the year to make it 7-1

Arnold started a 1-6-5-4 fielder’s choice groundout and then got a 4-6-3 double play to end the sixth, where he threw a game-high 16 pitches. Florida State continued to add to its lead with a two-RBI single up the middle by Faurot with two outs in the top of the seventh.

Three consecutive strikeouts for Arnold ended the seventh to leave the leadoff runner on first.

Both teams scored a run in the eighth, as DeLamielleure led off the frame with a homer down the right field line and an RBI single in the bottom half was the final batter of Arnold’s night.

With a 10-2 game, sophomore right-hander John Abraham relieved Arnold with two outs and a runner on second. He got a groundout to end the inning and maintain the eight run cushion.

In the ninth, Abraham struck out two and got a lineout to end it.

The top-20 series continues with a 2 p.m. matchup on Saturday, April 26. The finale is on Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m.

Sunday’s game will air live on the ACC Network, while Saturday’s contest will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.

Softball: FSU 10, Louisville 9

The No. 7 Florida State softball team (41-6, 15-1) picked up another win in ACC play on Friday night with a 10-9 victory over Louisville (23-22, 6-13) at Ulmer Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.

After 12 days off, the Seminoles showed no sign of rust as they scored five runs on four hits before the Cardinals recorded an out in the first inning. Isa Torres drew a leadoff walk, and Jahni Kerr singled through the left side and advanced to second on the throw to put two runners in scoring position for the Noles. Michaela Edenfield hit a slow ground ball to the pitcher who was unable to field it to allow Torres to score. Jaysoni Beachum and Katie Dack hit back-to-back singles to extend the lead to 3-0. Angelee Bueno added two more runs on a single through the right side to put the Noles up 5-0.

Ashtyn Danley got the start in the circle for the Noles and kept the Cardinals off the board to keep the momentum with the Noles.

FSU used a two-out rally in the top of the second to add four more runs. Edenfield drew another walk, and Dack singled to put runners on base for Bueno. She delivered with a single to pick up her third RBI of the game. Kennedy Harp cleared the bases with her 10th triple of the season. Harp is one triple away from tying the school record for most triples in a single season. Danley drove in a Harp with a single to put the Noles up 9-0.

After two scoreless innings, Louisville added five runs in the fifth to cut into the lead.

FSU got a run back in the seventh as Kerr ripped one through the left side to put the Noles up 10-5. Kerr has recorded a RBI in her last five games.

The Cardinals were not going down without a fight as they scored four runs with two outs, but Jazzy Francik got the final out with runners on the corners to end the game. Francik picked up her seventh save of the season to move to No. 2 all-time for most saves in a single season. Annabelle Widra was credited with the win after going five innings and and allowing two earned runs to improve to 10-2 on the season.

Game two of the series will be at 3 p.m. Saturday on ACCNX.
