FSU Basketball lands another big man, adds Russian center Egor Ryzhov
Florida State men’s basketball coach Luke Loucks said in May that he and his staff were working on getting an international prospect on board for the upcoming season. Now, he has landed that target.
Florida State has signed 6-foot-11 Russian center Egor Ryzhov, who played for Zenit, a professional team in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
During the 2024-2025 season in VTB United League play, the 19-year-old Ryzhov was the youngest player on the team and averaged 7.7 minutes and 3.1 points per game. He shot 61.5 percent from the field.
Former Florida State players Okaro White and Dwayne Bacon play for Zenit as well, and those relationships were helpful in the Seminoles landing Rhyzov. White’s relationship was particularly beneficial since he and Loucks went to the same high school in Clearwater and have known each other since their youth.

Ryzhov is listed at 6-foot-11 and 220 pounds, and his size helps fill the Seminoles’ need for strength in the middle. Earlier this summer, Florida State landed UMass transfer Shahid Muhammad, a 6-foot-10, 205-pound post player.
The only big man returning from last season for the ‘Noles is athletic 7-footer Alier Maluk.
