FSU Basketball lands St. Bonaventure transfer Lajae Jones

FSU men’s basketball coach Luke Loucks picked up his second important transfer on Monday, as former St. Bonaventure wing Lajae Jones announced he will be a Seminole.
“I just felt like it was the best fit for me, and the plans too,” said Jones, adding that Loucks was the most active head coach in his recruitment. “I think he’s really the only head coach I’ve talked to, because the others are interested in me, but I never heard from any of the head coaches.”
Jones, a Jacksonville native, averaged 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in his one season with the Bonnies. He started his career at Tarleton State and then played one season at Barton Community College in Kansas, where he averaged 15.4 points and 9.2 rebounds.
The 6-foot-7, 220-pounder visited FSU this past weekend.
As a senior at Jacksonville’s Fletcher High, Jones averaged 20.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
FSU also landed Drexel guard Kobe Magee this past weekend.
Now that he is in the fold with Florida State, Jones shared his pitch to the other transfer portal and high school prospects who are visiting this week.
“Coach just came from the NBA,” Jones said. “He coached Kevin Durant and Steph Curry, so he’s going to run an NBA-based system. That’s where you want to go. Why not learn from him?”

In addition to filling out his roster, Loucks also is two steps closer to filling out his coaching staff.
According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Loucks is hiring assistant coach Amorrow Morgan away from Cal, and he also is bringing former USF staff member Chris Kent in as an assistant coach and director of player development.
Before coaching at Cal, Morgan worked at Loyola-Chicago, South Alabama and Nicholls State. Kent is a former graduate assistant at FSU who also has worked for NBA organizations.
