Communication issues, run fits plague FSU Defense -- Film Breakdown with Dominic Robinson
Sorting through all of FSU football’s issues amidst the Seminoles’ 0-2 start can be a daunting task. But that’s where the All-22 film can be of great use.
Warchant lead football analyst Dominic Robinson is back for another season of film breakdowns in 2024. In his first session, Robinson broke down Florida State’s defensive problems.
“The film told me a lot,” Robinson said. “It’s definitely not ‘the sky is falling’ although it feels that way. The things that are happening are correctible. It’s definitely, obviously, not a 13-0 team. Not a 13-0 defense. But it’s a good enough defense to get back in the fight here and maybe even fight for the conference.”
The first point of emphasis is on a lack of consistent communication.
“One thing we talk about all the time is in order to have a championship defense, we gotta have obnoxious communication,” Robinson explained. “It’s got to get to the point where the other team gets tired of us saying the things that we say, whatever our calls are. That everybody on the defense knows exactly what the guy to his left and the guy to his right is doing.”
