FSU Football to open ACC play with Friday game at Virginia; First 5 dates known

The first five games of the 2025 Florida State football schedule are now officially known.
The ACC officially announced the conference openers for each team in the league on Friday afternoon, and the Seminoles actually got to know their first two ACC opponents in the release.
The conference will announce the full schedules for every team on Monday night.
The Seminoles will open ACC play on a Friday night in Charlottesville, Va. The Seminoles will take on the Cavaliers on Sept. 26, and then return home the following Saturday, Oct. 4, to host the Miami Hurricanes. The Seminoles will be the first conference game of the season for the rivals from Coral Gables.
Virginia was 5-7 a season ago and 3-5 in the ACC. The Cavaliers will be the fourth opponent the Seminoles will face in 2025.
Florida State, of course, opens the season with a home game against Alabama. The Seminoles then play East Texas A&M at home the following Saturday.

Now that we know the conference opener isn’t until Sept. 26, that means the Seminoles will have a bye week on Sept. 13. They will then take on Kent State at home on Sept. 20 before a short-week turnaround road game in Charlottesville the following Friday night.
East Texas A&M, formerly known as Texas A&M-Commerce, was 3-9 a season ago. Kent State was 0-12.
That means three of the first five games of the 2025 season for the Seminoles come against teams that had losing records a year ago. The other two are Alabama and Miami.
