FSU golfer Tyler Weaver qualifies for U.S. Open; Lottie Woad wins low amateur

Seven Florida State golfers, both current and former, competed Monday in U.S. Open Final Qualifying dubbed as “Golf’s Longest Day,” due to having to play 36 holes in one day at a very high level.
Of the seven Seminoles who took part — Luke Clanton, Frederik Kjettrup, Rowin Caron, Hank Lebioda, John Pak, Andrew McLauchlan and Tyler Weaver — only Weaver qualified.
The current Florida State player competed at Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta, where he shot 11-under par over the two rounds, going 67-66 to finish third in the field.
Weaver was propelled by making five birdies in six holes at one stretch in his second round.
A native of Newmarket, England, the Florida State sophomore had a very good spring for the Seminoles. He won his first college event at the Cabo Collegiate, and he also was the 2025 ACC Championship runner-up. In 2024, he was named ACC freshman golfer of the year.
Weaver will now join fellow Seminoles Brooks Keopka and Daniel Berger at golf’s third major of the year next week. This year’s open takes place at Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh; it’s considered one of the hardest golf courses in the country.
