FSU Softball pummels Robert Morris, 10-1, in NCAA Regional opener
They had to wait an extra 90 minutes to get started, but once they did, the No. 5 Florida State Seminoles made quick work of Robert Morris in the opening round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Friday afternoon.
FSU scored in three of the first four innings — including a five-spot in the third and four in the fourth — and cruised to a 10-1, run-rule victory in five innings.
The top-seeded Seminoles will face No. 3 seed USF in a winners’ bracket game Saturday at 1 p.m. The Bulls needed nine innings to knock off Auburn, 12-7, in the Friday opener.
While shortstop Isa Torres and third baseman Jaysoni Beachum delivered some of the big hits early, it was a balanced approach from the FSU lineup. The Seminoles collected 11 hits as a team in four innings, including five for extra bases; they didn’t get to hit in the bottom of the fifth.

Torres went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple and two runs scored, and Beachum went 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs.
Annabelle Widra pitched three scoreless innings to get Florida State off to a good start, then Julia Aspel threw the final two, allowing one run.
With the win, FSU improves to 47-9, while Robert Morris falls to 30-17.
