Pettus Commit FP

The Florida State football team landed another major addition through the transfer portal on Tuesday as veteran Ole Miss offensive tackle Micah Pettus committed to the Seminoles.

He is Florida Stats’s third OL transfer in this cycle, and all three have multiple years of starting experience.

Florida State earlier received commitments from OL transfers Adrian Medley (a guard from UCF) and Gunnar Hansen (a tackle from Vanderbilt).

In Pettus, the Seminoles are getting a 6-foot-7, 360-pound veteran who started all 11 games he played at right tackle in 2024. He started the first nine games of 2023 before going down with a season-ending injury.

EARLIER REPORT

FSU has been very aggressive when it comes to going after offensive linemen in the NCAA Transfer Portal, and the Seminoles are beginning to see the fruits of their labor.

They already have two OL portal additions in the house, and now the ‘Noles could be poised to add another experienced standout in Ole Miss transfer Micah Pettus.

Pettus visited FSU this past weekend just before on-campus visits shut down, and that gamble by the Seminoles might just pay off. Following his FSU visit, On3 national expert Pete Nakos logged a prediction for FSU to land Pettus.

Just a day earlier, Pettus spoke with Warchant and other media outlets about his two-day official visit and had plenty of high praise for FSU, head coach Mike Norvell and the Seminoles’ staff.

“He’s been adamant about how much he wants me here along with what Coach [Gus] Malzahn and Coach [Herb] Hand are building here,” Pettus said.

**My thoughts on FSU and Micah Pettus**

I wasn’t stunned by Nakos’ RPM pick based on how things have gone the last two days between FSU and Pettus.

According to the veteran offensive lineman, this was the first visit he took with his family, and there was a clear push from FSU to let him know he was coveted. I also felt that the next destination for Pettus would be a school where the OL coach has a history of developing linemen at a high level, and Herb Hand checked off those boxes.

Of all the linemen FSU had on campus in recent days, Pettus was the one name that I heard the most buzz surrounding. Now, we’ll see if that buzz translates to the Seminoles’ next signing.
