FSU women's hoops superstar guard Ta'Niya Latson enters transfer portal

She has been the best player in FSU women’s basketball history. She’s currently the leading scorer in Division-I.
And she’s now entering the NCAA transfer portal for her final season.
Florida State superstar guard Ta’Niya Latson, who set a school record with 731 points this season on her way to averaging a nation’s-best 25.2 points per game, has decided to test the portal, according to a tweet from ESPN’s Andraya Carter.
The tweet reads: BREAKING: FSU Junior Guard Ta’Niya Latson is entering the transfer portal, per Klutch Sports (agency). Latson is keeping all options, including a return to FSU, open during this process.
Latson has scored 2,095 points in her three-year FSU career. She scored 28 in a first-round NCAA Tournament win over George Mason on Saturday and followed that up with a 30-point effort in a loss to LSU in the second round.
The Miami native also averaged 4.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 steals this season for the Seminoles, who advanced to the tournament for a 12th straight year.
With the possible departure of Latson, the Seminoles could lose their top three scorers from this past season. Makayla Timpson (17.5 points, 10.6 rebounds) and O’Mariah Gordon (15.9 points) were seniors in 2024-25.

Up until at least a few weeks ago, Latson had said her plan was to return to Tallahassee for a final year and not enter the WNBA Draft or transfer to another school.
“I feel like I still have room to grow, and I’m in no rush, no rush at all,” Latson told ESPN at the time. “I want to get my degree and finish out the greatness that I’ve accomplished here at Florida State.”
Now, that seems very much up in the air. And there will be no shortage of suitors and offers coming her way now that she’s in the portal.
