FSU WR Jalen Brown dismissed from program, becomes third receiver to depart this week

The Florida State wide receiver room got a little bit thinner on Saturday, as the Seminoles dismissed Miami native Jalen Brown from the program. He is the third receiver to leave FSU in the past week.

The former LSU transfer caught eight passes for 75 yards in his one season with Florida State. He was a very highly rated prospect coming out of high school and originally signed with LSU in 2023 before joining the Seminoles in 2024.

While fellow receivers Jordan Scott and Hykeem Williams both left the program to enter the transfer portal, Brown was dismissed by FSU, according to a university spokesman.

Brown was expected to compete for a starting position this fall but was limited for part of the spring due to injury.

The 6-foot speedster was rated the No. 79 prospect overall in the country coming out of Miami Gulliver Prep, and he was a top-15 receiver and one of the top 20 prospects in the state of Florida.

With only 10 receivers remaining on the Florida State roster, the Seminoles likely will look to add one or two through the transfer portal.
