FSU's Jamir Watkins goes No. 43 in NBA Draft to Washington Wizards
After a three-year drought, Florida State saw one of its players selected in the NBA Draft on Thursday night when the Washington Wizards grabbed Jamir Watkins with the No. 43 pick overall. He was taken with the 13th pick of the second round.
Watkins started his career at VCU but played the past two seasons with Florida State. He earned second-team All-ACC honors this past season after receiving Honorable Mention All-ACC the year before.
The New Jersey native finished his Florida State career with 1,104 points in just 65 games. He reached 1,000 points in his FSU career in his 60th game, which is tied for 11th-fastest in school history.
Watkins averaged 17.0 points during his time with the Seminoles, and he started all 65 games he played.

This past season, Watkins averaged a career-high 18.4 points (first on the team), 5.7 rebounds (second on the team), 2.4 assists (second), and 1.2 steals (second).
Watkins becomes the first Florida State player taken in the NBA Draft since the Seminoles had three players selected in 2021; Scottie Barnes went in the first round that year, and Raiquan Gray and Balsa Koprivica both went in the second.
