FSU's Luke Clanton wins Ben Hogan Award as nation's best college golfer
Florida State star Luke Clanton was awarded the Ben Hogan Award, given annually to the nation’s best college golfer, on Monday night during a ceremony in Fort Worth, Texas.
“It’s an absolute honor. Me and Coach (Trey Jones) have been talking about this for a little bit, and it’s an amazing accomplishment to finally get it done.” Clanton said, before turning his attention back to his Florida State team. “For the whole team and staff and everyone here, let’s go win a national championship. Thank you.”
Clanton won the award over last year’s winner, Jackson Koivun of Auburn, and North Carolina’s David Ford. It was presented during a dinner at Colonial Country Club, the site of this week’s PGA Tour event, the Charles Schwab Challenge.
With only the NCAA Championships remaining, this culminates an incredible year for the Florida State junior, who has won four collegiate events individually. He won his second NCAA Regional individual title just last week.
The South Florida native also earned his PGA Tour card in late-February through the PGA Tour U accelerated program. He will be turning profession following his final college tournament next week.

Clanton is the second Florida State golfer to win the award since 2020, as current PGA Tour pro John Pak claimed it in 2021. He also joins a long list of Tour players who have won the award, including Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler, Ludvig Aberg and Viktor Hovland.
Clanton was joined by Florida State head golf coach Trey Jones at the event. The two will now meet the team in Carlsbad, Calif., on Tuesday to start preparing for the NCAA Championship tournament at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. Play there will begin on Friday.
