Elite OL Jonathan Daniels pulls trigger, commits to Florida State
After his official visit to Florida State last month, four-star offensive tackle Jonathan Daniels indicated a decision could be coming in July.
It didn’t take long for Daniels to follow through as he pulled a little surprise on Thursday by announcing his commitment to Florida State.
According to On3, Daniels is the seventh-best player in Florida, the No. 8 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 47 player nationally. The 6-foot-4 prospect out of nearby Pensacola chose Florida State over Kentucky and Georgia, both of which he took official visits to earlier in June.
After Daniels visited for FSU’s spring game, he told On3’s Sam Spiegelman how much he loved Florida State and the coaching staff: “Speaking to Coach (Alex) Atkins and Coach (Mike) Norvell, every time I go down there it’s that one-on-one, all of us having that bond, that relationship and talking about official visits — and me being able to fit in a little bit over there. … There’s a connection there. We talk every day. It’s there.”

Thanks to Daniels’ commitment, Florida State’s 2024 recruiting class moves up to No. 11 nationally and surges ahead of Clemson for the top class in the ACC.

While FSU has been considered Daniels’ leader for quite some time, his official visit to Tallahassee on June 23 might have sealed the deal.
“I can most definitely say the time spent with every last coach, player, staff member was amazing,” Daniels said. “To be that comfortable and just talk about whatever and make some connections. One of the biggest statements was building relationships, because you never know if that person could help you or connect you to many things.”
