Latest Nuggets on Florida State's Future with ACC, maneuvering behind scenes

It has been over a week now since Florida State athletics director Michael Alford put the ACC on notice that the Seminoles can’t go along with the status quo of the conference’s long-term television contract with ESPN.

According to projections for the Big Ten and Southeastern Conference, ACC schools stand to receive $30 million to $40 million less than members of those conferences annually. And the ACC contract with ESPN is in effect until 2036.

While it’s still not entirely clear what path Florida State will take next, Warchant has learned some details about what the Seminoles are doing behind the scenes to try to carve out a better financial future — both in the short and long term.
