After seeing four players selected on the opening night of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft, Florida State didn’t have to wait long for more players to go on Day 2.

FSU middle infielder Drew Faurot was selected by the Miami Marlins with the third pick of the fourth round, just as the second day was getting started. He was the second Seminole to be picked by the South Florida club; outfielder Max Williams went to the Marlins in the third round Sunday night.

Then in the fifth round, the New York Mets took Florida State pitcher Peyton Prescott with the 163rd pick overall. And the Marlins struck again, taking FSU pitcher Joey Volini with the third pick of the sixth round.

Faruot, who played second base for Florida State but has played shortstop in the past, was highly valued because of his glove, his athletic ability and his bat.

The Tallahassee product hit .307 this season with 16 home runs and 51 RBIs. The switch-hitter also was exceptional in the field, posting a .981 fielding percentage with only four errors all season.

After starting his career at UCF, Faurot spent the past two seasons at Florida State and earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2025. The draft value at Faurot’s spot is $708,300, according to MLB.com.

Prescott undoubtedly would have been drafted higher if not for an elbow injury sustained in Florida State’s final series in the Corvallis, Ore., Super Regional. The 6-foot right-hander topped out at 99-100 mph with his fastball, and even though his overall ERA was 5.15, he showed great potential late in his sophomore season.

Prescott struck out 46 batters in just 36 2/3 innings this season. His slot value, according to MLB, is $415,100.

Volini, a 6-4 left-hander, was selected after earning second-team All-ACC honors this season. He went 8-5 with a 3.50 ERA, and he struck out 105 batters with just 25 walks. His draft value is $397,000.
