Mike Norvell, Florida State assistant football coaches hit the road to visit recruits
While their players enjoy a bye week, Florida State football coach Mike Norvell and his assistants are hitting the road this week to watch some of the top prospects in the country play their high school games.
Norvell arrived by helicopter this afternoon in the Orlando area to watch five-star running back Cedric Baxter Jr. and his Edgewater High team take on Horizon High of Winter Garden tonight.

Baxter, who is committed to Texas, visited Florida State last weekend for the Clemson game and gave the trip high marks. He also says he plans to visit FSU again later this year.
“They’ve grown, you can tell they have a foundation set and they’ve growing by that,” Baxter said after the Seminoles’ 34-28 loss to top-five opponent Clemson. “These three games they lost, top-15 teams, but it’s almost like one play away from winning. So they’ve definitely grown.”
On3 rates Baxter as the No. 1 running back in the country and the No. 5 prospect in the state of Florida.
