After a wild couple of weeks, the Florida State Seminoles appear to finally have their quarterback for the 2025 class as they flipped Texas signal-caller Kevin Sperry on Thursday from his longtime commitment to Oklahoma.

The commitment comes as a major surprise, considering Sperry has not been to Florida State since December 2022 and has been committed to the Sooners since March 2023.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, the Denton, Texas, product is one of the nation’s top 500 recruits overall and the No. 31-ranked quarterback in the class. In addition, he was an Elite 11 finalist earlier this year; he is listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds.

Sperry’s decision likely was influenced by Oklahoma’s dismissal last month of offensive coordinator Seth Littrell. It was Littrell who was listed as Sperry’s primary recruiter with the Sooners.

Barring any unforeseen changes, this should bring an end to a version of musical chairs when it comes to Florida State quarterback recruiting.

The Seminoles had four-star quarterback Tramell Jones committed for over a year until he decommitted two weeks ago and then made a verbal pledge to Florida only a few days later.

Former Michigan commit Carter Smith then became Florida State’s next target, as he had visited Tallahassee for a game during the 2023 season and was an in-state product from Fort Meyers. On3’s Steve Wiltfong even had an RPM prediction in favor of the ‘Noles to land Smith until Thursday, when that was flipped to Wisconsin.

Shortly after that came to light, Perry announced he was flipping to the Seminoles.
