Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell watches on as his players come off the field. The Florida State Seminoles defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies 39-17 at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023.

With Florida State losing commitments from four-star wideouts Malik Clark and Daylan McCutcheon in recent weeks, the Seminoles have had to expand their board to start rebuilding their class at that position.

Because it is already late in this recruiting cycle, the Seminoles will have to act quickly to replace their once-impressive receiver haul. That process started this week with three new offers being extended by FSU.

Four-star Jayvan Boggs – UCF Commit

Boggs has been committed to UCF since the start of August. However, the Knights are the third school he has been committed to throughout his recruitment. He first was with Ohio State early on and then Missouri in July, then flipped to UCF and has stayed with that pledge ever since.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, the Cocoa Beach product is a top-250 recruit in the 2025 class, as well as a top-30 prospect at his position. Boggs is also currently the highest-rated prospect in UCF’s recruiting class.

The lasts time Boggs visited Florida State was almost two years ago, for the Seminoles’ blowout of Georgia Tech in 2022. It will be interesting to see if the ‘Noles will be able to rekindle that relationship over the next few weeks.

Four-Star Donovan Murph

The Irmo, S.C., product will be tough to pull from his home state. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the South Carolina Gamecocks have a 94 percent chance of landing the four-star receiver, with a prediction already in from On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

However, it is important to note that the Gamecocks already have six receivers committed for their 2025 class, including former Seminole pledge Malik Clark. In fact, their three highest-rated commits are all receivers.

This could make Florida State more attractive to Murph, as Florida State only has one other receiver committed, CJ Wiley. The Seminoles also should have opportunities for playing time in 2025 the way that position group has performed so far this season.

The On3 Industry Rankings has the 6-foot, 1-inch Murph listed as a top-350 recruit overall and a top-60 receiver in the country.

Four-Star Tae’Shaun Gelsey – Florida Commit

This one is the most interesting of the group as On3 has Gelsey listed as a tight end, and that is what the Florida Gators recruited him as. The Seminoles, on the other hand, see Gelsey as a wide receiver.

According to On3, the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder is among the top 250 recruits of the 2025 class, as well as a top-35 prospect in Florida.

Gelsey has not visited Florida State much, but being an in-state school close to home could gain interest here. Tulane is another school to watch for the four-star, as that was his only other official visit so far.
