Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis wasn’t cleared physically to participate in the NFL Combine or any pre-draft workouts, but that didn’t prevent him from being selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Travis, who went down with a broken leg last November, was selected in the fifth round Saturday by the New York Jets. He went with pick No. 171 overall and was the seventh Seminole selected.

Calling it a “dream come true,” the former FSU star was emotional when speaking with the Jets media via teleconference Saturday afternoon.

“It still hasn’t hit me yet, man,” Travis said. “My emotions are kind of everywhere right now. Just seeing the joy in my family’s faces, it’s been such a journey. To get where we are is such a blessing.”

After beginning his college career at Louisville, Travis transferred to Florida State in 2019 and started 38 games over the past four seasons. He was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year and overall Player of the Year in 2023 after passing for 2,756 yards with 20 touchdowns and only two interceptions.

Travis also finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting, despite missing Florida State’s final three games.

Travis recently returned to throwing and some mobility drills and has said he expects to be fully healthy by this fall.

The former Florida State star said he is looking forward to learning from Jets quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor, and also getting reunited with former FSU star defensive end Jermaine Johnson.

“Heck yeah. I can’t wait, man,” Travis said. “I talk to Jermaine a lot. That’s my guy.”

According to Spotrac, Travis’ contract will be for four years with a value of $4.27 million. It will include a signing bonus of $254,285.

For his career, Travis passed for 8,644 yards and 65 touchdowns, and he also ran for 1,910 yards and 31 touchdowns. He holds FSU career records for touchdown accounted for, total offense, quarterback rushing yards and quarterback rushing touchdowns.

Travis is the only player in Florida State history with more than 50 passing touchdowns and at least 12 rushing touchdowns.

Eagles take Johnny Wilson in Round 6

Florida State saw its second wide receiver selected in the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday when Johnny Wilson was picked by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round. Wilson is the eighth member of the 2023 FSU team to be taken in this draft.

Wilson started his career at Arizona State but found stardom with the Seminoles. He started 23 games over the past two seasons and caught 84 passes for over 1,500 yards and seven touchdowns.

Wilson was drafted with pick No. 185 overall. Fellow wideout Keon Coleman was selected in the second round by the Buffalo Bills.

Patriots select Jaheim Bell in 7th

Florida State tight end Jaheim Bell became the ninth Seminole selected in the 2024 Draft when he was picked by the New England Patriots in the seventh round. He was pick No. 231 overall.

Bell started his college career at South Carolina before transferring to FSU this past season. In his lone campaign with the Seminoles, he caught 39 passes for 503 yards and two touchdowns.

49ers take Tatum Bethune in 7th

Florida State linebacker Tatum Bethune became the Seminoles’ 10th pick in this year’s draft when the San Francisco 49ers took him in the seventh round on Saturday. He was the 251st pick overall.

Bethune began his career at UCF but played the past two seasons at FSU, where he racked up 84 tackles in 2022 and 70 in 2023.

This marks the first time FSU has had 10 or players drafted since 2015, when the Seminoles saw 11 players selected.
