Norvell: Florida State QB Tate Rodemaker 'game-day' decision for ACC title game
CHARLOTTE — Florida State quarterback Tate Rodemaker’s status for Saturday’s ACC Championship Game won’t be determined until the day of the game, head coach Mike Norvell said on Friday.
Norvell said Rodemaker, who sustained an apparent head injury in the Florida game last Saturday, was cleared to return to that game after he “passed” sideline evaluations. But the junior quarterback then experienced “a few symptoms” on Sunday.
Norvell said Rodemaker was able to practice this week but has been “limited” from some drills. He added that a final decision on the quarterback’s status won’t be made until Saturday.
“We all have a job to do,” Norvell said. “Obviously, with Tate being limited throughout the week, it opened up the door for other guys to prepare and to get ready. We’ve all had to push.”
Rodemaker, who stepped in last week after Jordan Travis’ season-ending injury, started and played in the Seminoles’ 24-15 victory against rival Florida. Backup Brock Glenn, a true freshman, filled in late in that game when Rodemaker was shaken up, and he would be next up if Rodemaker is unavailable.
“The game plan doesn’t have to change a whole lot,” Norvell said, regardless of who is at quarterback.
The Seminoles’ only other healthy scholarship quarterback is redshirt freshman A.J. Duffy.
Rodemaker has completed 32 of 56 passes this season for 510 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. Glenn has completed 2 of 4 passes for 35 yards in college.

In situations where a quarterback comes on in relief, Norvell said he tells the next man up to embrace his individuality.
“When they get their chance to step on the field, I don’t need them try to be a copycat of the other,” he said. “I just need them to be genuinely who they are… That’s what’s been consistent. And that’s what I’m most proud of in that room.”
Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm said the Cardinals are preparing to face Rodemaker, but they will prepare for Glenn as well.
