Overtime Elite forward Thomas Bassong commits to Florida State
Luke Loucks and the Florida State men’s basketball team gained their first high school commitment Saturday as small Overtime Elite small forward Thomas Bassong committed to the Seminoles.
The 6-foot-8 high school senior from France chose the ‘Noles over UCF. This commitment comes less than a week after Bassong took an official visit to Florida State.
Last season with Overtime Elite, Bassong averaged 15.6 points per game, 7.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
Going into his visit, Bassong said said UCF was the school recruiting him the hardest. But he was excited to learn more about the Seminoles.

“I want to feel the environment out there, how they treat their players,” Bassong said, adding that he likes FSU’s basketball tradition. “The fact that they are playing in a Power 5 conference and the type of players who have been to this university.”
Along with Bassong, Florida State has landed four transfers so far under Loucks — former Jacksonville guard Robert McCray, former Clemson forward Chauncey Wiggins, former St. Bonaventure forward Lajae Jones and former Drexel guard Kobe Magee.
