Reserve OL Zane Herring to leave Florida State, enter transfer portal
With so much depth and talent on the Florida State offensive line, many suspected the Seminoles would see at least one or two reserves enter the transfer portal this offseason, and the first one has made the jump.
Redshirt sophomore Zane Herring, who signed with Florida State as part of the 2020 recruiting class, announced on social media Thursday afternoon that he is entering his name in the portal.
Herring played in all 13 games last season, but most of his action came on the field goal protection unit. He was on the third-team offensive line this spring.
Herring is the fourth player from the Florida State roster to enter the portal this week and the first from the offensive side of the ball. Linebacker Brendan Gant was the first on Monday, then defensive lineman Antavious Woody was next, followed by linebacker Stephen Dix Jr.

Herring was a three-star prospect coming out of nearby Madison County High and battled injuries early in his time at FSU.
Including Herring, Florida State signed 25 recruits in the class of 2020 when head coach Mike Norvell and his staff arrived. With Herring and Dix leaving this week, the Seminoles now have 10 players from that class remaining.
