Seminoles snap losing streak, pull away for 67-60 win over Notre Dame
One day after Florida State men’s basketball coach Leonard Hamilton announced he was resigning at the end of this season, his Seminoles snapped a four-game losing streak and knocked off visiting Notre Dame on Tuesday, 67-60.
The Seminoles got strong performances from senior guard Jamir Watkins (21 points, 8 rebounds) and junior center Malique Ewin (18 points, 10 rebounds) to pull away down the stretch.
The lead changed hands or the game was tied 10 different times, as both teams went on long runs. But the Seminoles made enough plays down the stretch to improve to 14-9 overall and 5-7 in the ACC.
Notre Dame falls to 10-12 and 4-7.
The Fighting Irish had a difficult time scoring against FSU all night. They shot 36.7 percent from the field in the first half and 36.4 percent in the second.

Florida State shot 56.5 percent for the game and also outscored the Notre Dame by 10 points at the free-throw line. The Seminoles were 16-for-19 from the line, while the Irish were 6-for-13.
After a bye this weekend, next up for Florida State is a trip to Wake Forest on Feb. 12.
