The Florida State football team will be without two starters on defense and two other reserves when the Seminoles take on Charleston Southern today at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Starting defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. and starting cornerback Fentrell Cypress are both going to be unavailable for the game, according to an FSU spokesperson.

Jones has 23 tackles this season, including 4.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. Cypress leads the Seminoles with five pass breakups.

Junior Byron Turner Jr. or senior Sione Lolohea will likely start in Jones’ place on the defensive line, while sophomore Quindarrius Jones will likely get the start at cornerback opposite of Azareye’h Thomas.

Florida State also will be without offensive lineman Jaylen Early, who has started six of eight games he has played in this season but also missed the Notre Dame game two weeks ago. Safety Conrad Hussey, who also has been in and out of the starting lineup, will also not be available to play today.

On a positive note, FSU coach Mike Norvell said earlier this week that freshman running back Kam Davis is expected to be back in action this week. He has been sidelined since the Duke game with a lower-leg injury.

Despite being 1-9 on the season, the Seminoles are favored by nearly five touchdowns against 1-10 Charleston Southern. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1:30 p.m. on ACCNX.
