Updated depth chart reveals just how much experience Florida State won't have vs. UGA

The depth chart for the Florida State Seminoles heading into Saturday’s Orange Bowl is starting to come into focus. And it’s not a pretty picture.

The school released an official updated two-deep on Tuesday, and what was already a thin roster looks to have been sliced even further in the previous few days.

Caziah Holmes is listed as a starter at one running back position. Ja’Khi Douglas, a wide receiver by trade, is listed at the other spot. He’s backed up by fellow receiver Joshua Burrell. True freshman Samuel Singleton is backing up Holmes.

Lawrance Toafili, who was named MVP of the ACC Championship Game, is not on the depth chart. Neither, of course, is star Trey Benson, who declared for the NFL Draft earlier this month.

At wideout, Keon Coleman joins Johnny Wilson as omissions on the depth chart. Coleman has yet to officially enter the NFL Draft like Wilson has, but it would seem that announcement in imminent. Tight end Jaheim Bell, who has already declared for the NFL Draft but had yet to officially announce his bowl intentions, is not on the depth chart either.

The quarterback depth chart is third-string true freshman Brock Glenn, being backed up by walk-ons Dylan McNamara and Michael Grant.

The players still on the depth chart accounted for 1,179 total yards from scrimmage. That represents just 21.7 percent of total yardage gained by the Seminoles in 2023. Of the 57 touchdowns the FSU offense scored in 2023, these players accounted for 8 of them.

On defense, it was already known that Fabien Lovett and Jared Verse would not be playing for the Seminoles. The depth chart now also doesn’t include starting defensive backs Renardo Green and Jarrian Jones.

Safety Akeem Dent is also not on the depth chart.

Defensive tackle Braden Fiske is still listed on the depth chart, alongside Miami transfer Darrell Jackson.

If you’re keeping count, that means FSU will now be without at least 10 starters who played against Florida in the regular-season finale, as well as about a dozen key backups.

Florida State plays No. 6 Georgia at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
