Warchant Takes Dublin! Sneak peek of venue for 2024 FSU-Georgia Tech game

DUBLIN — On Aug. 24, 2024, the Florida State football team will square off against Georgia Tech in the 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland.
But FSU fans don’t have to wait until then to get the flavor of what this game — and a trip to Dublin — has to offer.
Through a partnership between Warchant and the event’s organizers and sponsors, three of our staff members — Jeff Cameron, Ira Schoffel and Aslan Hajivandi — are spending the better part of this week in Dublin, and we will be giving FSU fans a feel for what they will experience.
(We know, it’s a rough job, but somebody’s got to do it!)
Here’s a rundown of our trip’s first 24 hours:
On Sunday night, we took a direct flight from the Aer Lingus hub at Orlando International Airport and made the 8 1/2-hour overnight trip to Dublin. We landed at about 9:30 a.m. local time and made our way to the hotel to shower and freshen up. (From talking with other travelers who came via connecting flights, the direct trip out of Orlando is a winner if you can swing it.)
From there, we toured Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, where the FSU-Georgia Tech game will be played 13 months from now. It is a magnificent structure, built in 2010 on a site where sports such as soccer and rugby have been played for more than 150 years, and it features a capacity of over 51,000.
After getting a great look at Aviva Stadium (we will have much more in-depth features coming soon), we had lunch at a local pub called The Bridge. The food and service were excellent, and the atmosphere was very cool. The Bridge traces its history to 1859, and it is owned by several current and former Irish rugby players.
Next up on our itinerary was a tour of the Teeling Whiskey Distillery, which sits near the heart of Dublin and offers an incredible array of whiskey varieties and flavors. But before we checked that out, we stopped for a pint of Guinness at a historic Dublin pub called Fallon’s, which has existed by one name or another in the same location since the 1600s.

The Teeling Whiskey Distillery tour was definitely a highlight of the day. The staff offers tours from morning through evening, and visitors are actually allowed to watch the distilling process up close. There also are, of course, opportunities to taste the various offerings.
After taking an hour or two to catch our breath, we then enjoyed an excellent dinner at Fire Steak House, which is billed as Ireland’s “most historical dining room,” and then capped things off with another round of Guinness (or two in Jeff’s case) at Toners Pub, another very cool establishment that dates back to 1734.
Our first day in Dublin was a great table setter for what should be an incredible week, and we’ll offer several snippets, videos and photos each day during the trip. But some of the richest content will be released in the coming weeks and during the fall as excitement builds for the 2024 game and trip.
If you haven’t placed an order yet, the game’s organizers are still selling packages for the 2024 Florida State-Georgia Tech game at Seminoles2Ireland.com.
