Warchant TV: Introductory press conference with FSU coordinators Gus Malzahn, Tony White
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell made the drastic decision amid a dismal 2024 campaign to jettison both coordinators in-season.
Norvell moved swiftly in appointing Gus Malzahn to lead the offense and Tony White to coordinate the defense.
On Wednesday, Malzahn described himself as an “old school football coach” who was drawn to FSU because of his history coaching alongside Mike Norvell and the possibilities for success saying, “this is a place where you can win the whole thing.”
“We’re gonna play fast,” Malzahn added. “We’re gonna run the ball downhill and throw the ball vertically.”
Malzahn said it will be a collaborative approach in game-planning but he will be calling plays.

White pointed to his time at Arizona State (2018-19) and working with assistants who were in place in Tempe when Norvell was the offensive coordinator (2012-15) in giving him familiarity with his approach.
White historically has run a 3-3-5 defense.
“We’re going to be multiple,” said White. “We’re going to put guys in the best positions possible to go out there and let them play really fast and not be confused.”
