Warchant TV: Mike Norvell, Florida State coordinators assess GT loss, turn page to BC
Following its season-opening loss to Georgia Tech in Dublin, Florida State returned to Tallahassee on Monday, held a scheduled closed practice on Tuesday and used Wednesday for their coaches game week press conference.
Head coach Mike Norvell opened remarks by thanking the fans for the turnout in Dublin and adding, “it’s sickening we came up short and I take complete ownership.”
“I don’t believe that was our best,” said Norvell, adding that the lack of explosive plays on offense and his inability to get the ball to his playmakers were key issues.
On the defensive side, Norvell said, “it was unfortunate we were unable to create more explosives defensively.”

“We have to find a way to create that takeaway with the way it showed up,’ said Norvell — referring to a Georgia Tech fumble the FSU defense was unable to fall on.
“Everyone’s disappointed we came up short.”

Alex Atkins, who will be serving the second of a three-game suspension on Monday, was not made available.
Next up for Florida State is their home opener vs. Boston College on Monday, Sept. 2nd.
The Seminoles dropped their season opener for the first time since 2021.
Florida State has added 14 players from the transfer portal and a high school recruiting class that finished 14th in the 2024 cycle. The 2025 early signing period for prep signees begins Wednesday December 4 and closes on December 6.
