Warchant TV: Mike Norvell, Florida State coordinators reflect on Memphis, look ahead to Cal
Florida State (0-3, 0-2) will look to bounce back following a 20-12 loss to Group of Five foe Memphis when they resume ACC play vs. Cal (3-0, 0-0) on Saturday.
On Monday, Mike Norvell opened up his remarks saying, “disappointing outcome [on Saturday], disappoining beginning to our season.”
“Obviously we’re not playing to the level I believe we’re capable of,” said Norvell adding that he thought he did see some improvements on the defensive side of the ball on Saturday.

When asked about the status of starting offensive tackles Darius Washington and Jeremiah Byers, Norvell was non-committal but said it looked “promising”, hinting the designation applied more so to Washington. Norvell also expects Shyheim Brown to be available and said Jalen Brown and Cam Riley will be monitored throughout the week.

FSU’s next opponent, Cal, defeated San Diego State 31-10 on Saturday night.

Florida State added 14 players from the transfer portal and a high school recruiting class that finished 14th in the 2024 cycle. The 2025 early signing period for prep signees begins Wednesday December 4 and closes on December 6.
