Saturday marked the sixth day of the Florida State spring football season and the first scrimmage, a largely situational exercise for the Seminoles. Afterwards, head coach Mike Norvell was impressed with the defense, particularly the defensive front. When asked about the secondary, Greedy Vance was tabbed as “one of the stars of spring” by Norvell. Offensively, he said Rodney Hill and CJ Campbell had big runs in the scrimmage. The tight ends were also very involved on Saturday, Norvell called transfer Jaheim Bell a “explosive and dynamic mover.”

FSU returns to practice on Tuesday afternoon.

When asked about DE Patrick Payton, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller called him the most improved player of the defense. Fuller also echoed praise upon Vance and the confidence he is playing with. Omarion Cooper, who moved to safety, remains a defensive back at his core Fuller said and added “Duke Cooper will help us win games.”

Offensive coordinator Alex Atkins said the running game did a good job of wearing on the defense late in the scrimmage but moving forward it will be important for the backs to assert themselves earlier on to give the offense its best chance for success.
