WR Hykeem Williams is shining star of Florida State 2023 signing class
He is the marquee recruit of the Florida State football team’s Class of 2023, and he might just be the next big offensive weapon for Mike Norvell’s Seminoles.
Hykeem Williams is considered one of the best wide receivers in the country by every major recruiting outlet, and on Wednesday he officially became a Seminole when he signed his national letter of intent.
Williams is a five-star recruit in the On3 Consensus rankings and is rated the fifth-best receiver in the country and the eighth-best player in the state of Florida. He is ranked as the No. 30 player in the nation overall, making him the top-rated high school recruit of the Mike Norvell Era.
Williams committed to the Seminoles on Sept. 23, over the likes of Texas A&M and Miami among many others, and he never really wavered over the next three months.
“The relationship I’ve built with them is crazy,” Williams said at the time of why he picked FSU. “Coach (Ron) Dugans, I’ve built a great relationship with, he’s like a big brother or uncle, a best friend during the recruiting process. He’s from down here, he’s been to the (NFL), he broke records, he played at Florida State. I don’t think there’s any other coach who could develop me like he could.”

As a star at Stranahan High in Fort Lauderdale, Williams was considered one of the top deep threats in the country. His mix of size (he’s listed at almost 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds) and speed should have him poised to get on the field for the Seminoles as a freshman, even with so many experienced receivers returning in 2023.
When he committed to Florida State in September, former FSU stars Peter Warrick and Marvin “Snoop” Minnis were in attendance for his commitment. If he produces a career anywhere close to those of the former All-Americans, or even the one of his position coach, he’ll be every bit as good as advertised.
Here is a scouting report of Williams heading into his senior season:
Physically-developed receiver with plus body control and burst. Possesses the balance and agility to make defenders miss in the open field as well as the juice to get upfield and pull through arm tackles after the catch. Has a big frame that carries his weight with ease. Measured 6-foot-2.5, 193 pounds with a 6-foot-4.5 wing-span as a junior. Shows vertical ability on 50-50 balls and on the hardwood as a basketball player. Averaged a double-double in points (12.2) and rebounds (10.3) on the basketball court as a junior. Totaled 31 receptions for 693 yards and 6 touchdowns his junior season. Will develop a more diverse route tree as he transitions to the college game. Has all the physical tools to potentially turn into a dominant X-type receiver at the next level. On the older end among prospects in the 2023 cycle, turning 18 during his junior season.
