Warren Brinson is getting a chance to make a career out of the game he loves. The Georgia defensive lineman was taken by the Green Bay Packers with the No. 198 overall pick (6th round) of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Savannah native spent five seasons at Georgia after signing with the program in the 2020 class. He appeared in 58 career games with the Bulldogs and appeared in at least six games in each season.

Brinson saw action in six games as a true freshman in 2020, tallying just three tackles. He was a much bigger factor the following season, playing in 12 of UGA’s 15 games and tallying nine tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack.

Georgia won the National Championship that season and did so again in 2022 as Brinson played in 15 games. He piled up 12 total tackles that season to go with three tackles for loss and a sack.

Brinson battled injury for the first time in his career in 2023. He ended up missing two games but racked up 21 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks. Some consideration was given to entering the 2024 NFL Draft but like Nazir Stackhouse, Brinson decided to return for his final season of eligibility.

Despite missing two more games with injury, Brinson had the best season of his career. He set career highs in tackles (26) and tackles for loss (six) while recording a pair of sacks. Brinson suffered an achilles injury in the 2024 season opener after just one snap. He missed the rest of that game and the next two before getting healthy for the final 12 games.

Brinson wore a lot of hats during his five seasons at Georgia. He was strictly an interior defensive lineman early in his career, playing defensive tackle and nose tackle. As he gained experience, position coach Tray Scott began to work him as a defensive end and in specialty roles on third down and in pass-heavy situations.
