Another Georgia offensive lineman is off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. Multi-year starting left guard Dylan Fairchild heard his name called in the 3rd round (No. 81 overall) with Cincinnati making the pick. He’s the third Bulldog lineman picked thus far.

Fairchild’s career at Georgia began in 2021 and he saw very little action in his first two seasons. The 6-foot-5 315-pound guard played in six games as a reserve in those two seasons combined.

He entered the 2023 season as a rotational player at guard but was thrust into starting action due to injuries. He played in all 14 games that season with 10 starts. That offensive line ranked No. 7 nationally in sacks allowed, giving up fewer than one per game on average. The Bulldogs ranked No. 2 in the SEC in scoring offense that season, averaging 40.1 points per game.

Fairchild returned for the 2024 season and was the clear starter at left guard. The former wrestling state champion at the high school level showed his toughness in his fourth-year junior season. After suffering a torn calf muscle around the midpoint of the season, Fairchild played in approximately eight games with the injury to finish the season. Despite the injury he was likely the Bulldogs’ most consistent offensive lineman throughout the season as the unit struggled in that area and with various ailments.

“Toughness, character, what he stands for as a man. I have a lot of respect for Dylan and the way he’s gone about the approach,” Smart said of Fairchild back in August. He got up in front of the team and told his story. He talked about the years he spent on scout team and how much it mean to him to earn what he’s gotten here and how hard he’s had to work for it. Lot of respect for him. His greatest attribute is probably his toughness or his power.”

Fairchild was a four-star prospect in the 2021 class per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He was the No. 108 overall prospect and the No. 6 interior offensive lineman. He finished that cycle as the No. 12 overall player in Georgia.
