Johnson was curious about his future teammates. He wanted to know if they had the same drive and ability that he has.
“Normal people don’t get Georgia offers, so you have to be different in some type of way,” Johnson said back on Aug. 8. “I wanted to see if they could play. I wanted to see if the guys had the same mentality that I have and do they move the way that I move. Those will be my teammates, so I wanted to know.”
Johnson also grew up as a Georgia fan.
“Where I’m from, I’m a Georgia boy automatically,” Johnson said. “Being that I’m from Georgia having a Georgia offer is big. Taking a chance and having a shot to be a Georgia player is big from where I come from.”
