Avon (Conn.) Old Avon Farms four-star quarterback Ryan Puglisi left Los Angeles with a handful of things that will stick with him. The No. 104 overall prospect in the On3 rankings competed in the Elite 11 Finals this week.

The first thing Puglisi took note of was the connections he built. Puglisi found some things out about himself as a player, but the Georgia commit also feels like he had some memories that he’ll keep forever stemming from his three days in Los Angeles.

“I thought it was a solid week and there are definitely things that I can also improve on,” Puglisi said. “I’m super grateful for the opportunity that came upon me with Elite 11. I’ve built some lifelong memories with these guys. I’m super excited for the future.”

Puglisi was surprised at how quickly he connected with the other quarterbacks. He and Notre Dame commit CJ Carr hit it off immediately.

“The biggest words that were talked about throughout this whole trip was connection,” Puglisi said. “They talked about that a lot. I tried to build a bond with these guys. It can be hard be tough when we have like one full day here and two days of travel. I was talking to CJ Carr and some other guys, we thought there were going to be some cliques and people were going to have their own groups or keep to themselves. I met CJ Carr for the first time this week and I feel like I’ve known him for 10 years and he’s one of my best friends. All these guys I can say the same thing about. I would hang out with them every day if I could.”

Ryan Puglisi has sold showing across the board

Puglisi came home as the sixth overall top performer in On3’s overall top performers for the event. On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power had high praise for Puglisi.

Power: Puglisi entered the week at the Elite 11 Finals with a chip on his shoulder. The Avon (Conn.) Avon Old Farms product turned in a good week of work, landing on our top performers on Day 1 and just missing out on Day 2. Puglisi is a live-armed passer who plays with a bouncy, kinetic energy. He showed a quick, loose arm and easily generated notable zip on his short and intermediate passes. Puglisi had some moments where he pressed and the ball got away from him, but overall it was a good showing and his arm talent stacked up in the top group. For a quarterback from the Northeast who does not play the type of competition of some others, he showed he belonged and didn’t struggle to adjust to the environment.

Puglisi felt day three was a solid performance in the 7-on-7 portion of the event.

“I thought it went solid,” Puglisi said. “There are just little things that I can get better on like processing things a little better. I’m just trying to get better at the things that matter.”

Puglisi also had the chance to express his competitive juices throughout the week. Puglisi has always been competitive. He credits his multi-sport background.

“All my life I’ve competed the whole time,” Puglisi said. “I’ve played three sports pretty much the entire time. When I wasn’t competing in football I was in baseball. If it wasn’t either of those then it was basketball. It’s kind of been my thing. It’s a sport and I love playing sports. I love to compete and I want to win.”
