Aaron Rodgers, Packers o-line teaching Devonte Wyatt some NFL lessons
Aaron Rodgers doesn’t just have a new tattoo, and a new Con Air vibe about him. He also has two brand-new, first-round NFL Draft picks to school in the ways of professional football.
Of course, in Packers Draft fashion, neither one is a skill player who will improve Rodgers’s arsenal.
On the flipside – and to Rodgers’s ultimate advantage – both are former Georgia football forces, at multiple levels of the Green Bay defense.
One of those players is linebacker and 22nd overall pick, Quay Walker.
The other is defensive lineman, Devonte Wyatt.
The 28th overall pick made a bold proclamation before even playing a single game with the new ‘G’ on his helmet.
“It’s a lot of talented guys. With the cornerbacks, the linebackers and the d-linemen especially. I feel like we’re going to have a historic year this year,” Wyatt said.
“I feel like we’re going all the way this year, too. That’s just how I feel, and that’s what I want. I want to bring the Lombardi back.”
Hold your horses, young pup. There’s work to do and much to learn, yet
The Packers are a few days into camp now. Walker and Wyatt made it through rookie camp and all of the other team activities leading up to big boy camp.

But nothing can really prepare you for the NFL and Aaron Rodgers until you face them head-on (at least I imagine that’s the case, having never experienced it myself).
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers o-line catching Devonte Wyatt up to speed
On one hand, it’s a benefit for Devonte Wyatt to learn from these NFL wrecking crews.
But on the other, it’s really difficult.
Devonte Wyatt told Packers media what he’s learned on the field at camp thus far.
“You gotta move a lot faster. Because these big guys can move,” Wyatt said.
“That’s one thing I had to learn. Moving faster on the field. Because if you don’t, being out there with Aaron Rodgers, he’ll the ball as soon as the offensive line puts their hands in the dirt… It’s way faster than college.”
One is a pure force. The other is a whirlwind of hair and unpredictability
No, I’m not referring to myself and Marty Smith on On3 sister company, Outsider‘s Marty Smith Podcast. (Listen here if you like talkin’ ball and beer and random front porch conversations)
I’m referring to The Green Bay Packers’ offensive line, and quarterback / mysticist Aaron Rodgers.
And Devonte Wyatt is learning that first-hand, as a second-team defensive lineman in the NFL.
“Everybody starts from somewhere,” Wyatt said. “It’s just a mindset thing. You just keep working. I’m not mad at it. It’s a learning thing. I like to observe and watch. I’m trying to learn.”
Wyatt’s assessment?
The odds are slightly stacked in the offense’s favor during team scrimmages. Yes, even with fellow Dawgs Walker and 2021 first-round cornerback pick, Eric Stokes.
“They got Aaron Rodgers, Wyatt said. “They already won with him.”
