AD Mitchell, Stetson Bennett & 5-star Dawgs: The Georgia Show
AD Mitchell and Stetson Bennett shook up a bunch of Dawgs fans on their respective ways out of Athens. However you feel about their individual decisions, we shared our perspectives on The Georgia Show.
I understand why some fans would turn their backs on AD Mitchell. He’s only in it for the money, you don’t like College Football’s rapid changes, he doesn’t care about Georgia, etc.
He made two critically important catches in Georgia football lore. You can’t take that away from him.
His soon-to-be-former-teammates certainly don’t.
This is just the name of the game now, and it appears as if the opportunity to make some life-changing NIL money was an offer he couldn’t refuse.
This is the sport, like it or not. And that isn’t just my opinion.
In the weeks and months and years to come, more players will leave seemingly secure roster spots just like AD did.
Some of them will even come play at Georgia.
I know it’s difficult right now. You can feel however you want to feel about it.
I personally just don’t think it’s worth getting hung up on bashing the dude when there’s so much depth already at Georgia’s wideout position, and – oh yeah – your team just won back-to-back National Championships.
Disagree? Come on in to the comments section on YouTube, Apple and Spotify:
Stetson Bennett stood his ground against his parade critics
I wasn’t at the parade.
Like all of the Georgia fans I saw in Orlando, my family planned a trip to Disney World for the weekend after the National Championship date.
It’s just standard calendar-planning now for this fanbase.
What I heard and saw in bits and pieces was Stetson Bennett looking at a phone and saying things on a parade that Georgia fans didn’t like.
Even up to his last team appearance at Sanford Stadium, the Mailman just couldn’t get the respect from everyone that he earned on the field.
Look, I don’t really care what Bennett did or didn’t do at the celebration. He’s entitled to make his own choices. Not only is he a big boy, he’s an old man now.
I did get a kick out of his twitter response to Steak Shapiro.
The only missed opportunity? Calling him Mr. Medium-Rare instead of Mr. Well-Done.
I have nothing against Shapiro. But if you’re going to have beef with a guy named Steak, you have to go with the stronger steak-preparation-related insult.
The final updated On300 rankings for 2023 are out – and a bunch of Dawgs are in
Monroe Freeling leads the way for a bunch of Georgia commits who made this latest batch of 2023 On300 rankings.
He’s gonna be a DAWG in the trenches.
We got into that at the end of the show.
If you have AD Mitchell and Stetson Bennett fatigue, feel free to just hop ahead there.
We know there are some questions about On3’s talent evaluation for some Dawgs as it relates to other services. Jake Reuse and Jake Rowe shed some light on that and Ryan Puglisi‘s DAWG mentality at quarterback.

No matter where these guys are ranked, I’m starting to believe this may be Kirby Smart’s most talented class yet at Georgia.
P.S. – Editorial note on this particular episode of The Georgia Show:
We haven’t had much to disagree about over the past several months.
With the tragic losses of Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy, it’s been a gut-wrenching end to a very exciting season.
Georgia hasn’t lost a game since December of 2021. From a strictly football standpoint, AD Mitchell’s departure is the first major suboptimal football-related outcome of the 2022-23 season.
Stetson Bennett had a parade performance that many Georgia fans didn’t enjoy.
I’m not telling you how to feel about any or all of that. The passion of a Southeastern Conference football fan knows no rival.
But I do know how I feel about some of the reactions I’ve seen to it.
I had the rare opportunity to look at this team and its fans from the outside while I took some time off with family.
I am still processing what happened to LeCroy, Willock, McClendon and Bowles.
And I’m still grateful to have witnessed history in back-to-back National Championship seasons.
With all of that as a backdrop, the fact that a vocal few ripped one player’s decision to transfer and one player’s parade appearance just seemed like some very small potatoes from my point of view. It was surreal. And that’s where I’m coming from on this week’s show.
Some of you have a different perspective on everything we talked about. If we could make this a call-in show, we would.
I’d love to hear you audibly disagree with us so we could have more of a dialogue on some of these topics.
Right now, you only have the option to disagree in our live comments section. We love having you there and we hear you loud and clear.
Even if we can’t hear your voice. Even if we don’t agree.
I like when our shows are lighter in spirit. This isn’t a preachy, performative, hot-take production.
But it is our show, and we call things how we see them here.
We’ve seen a lot of very good weeks for Bulldog Nation here lately.
As much as I hate it, this past week just wasn’t one of them.
