Georgia has landed its fourth player from the December 2024 transfer portal window and it’s another addition in the secondary. After initially pledging to Florida, UAB safety Adrian Maddox has chosen to flip his commitment and continue his football career at UGA.

Maddox is from Conyers, Georgia and played his high school ball at Heritage. UGA will be Maddox’s fourth team in the past four seasons. He signed with Alabama State out of high school and spent one season there before making the move to Temple. After just one season with the Owls, Maddox made the move to UAB.

He had a strong junior season in Birmingham, tallying 44 total tackles, two tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and an interception that he returned 99 yards for a touchdown in a late-season win over Rice.

At 6-foot-3 200 pounds, Maddox lined up at multiple positions in the UAB secondary this past season. He played over 200 snaps at slot cornerback according to Pro Football Focus while playing around 150 more at strong safety. Georgia has immediate needs at both safety and STAR.

Maddox was an early target for the Bulldogs as they hosted him for a visit during the contact period. He also made the trip down to Gainesville to see the Gators.

Maddox joins USC brothers Zachariah Branch (WR) and Zion Branch (DB), along with Miami safety Jaden Harris, in committing to Georgia out of the transfer portal. The Bulldogs hope they aren’t done though, recently hosting and picking up predictions for Texas A&M wide receiver Noah Thomas as well.
